So, I recently finished my last educational cycle, meaning I’ve just gotten my masters degree, and for my dissertation I created a mobile app for iOS. Mind you, it wasn’t anything extraordinary, just a simple application to supply a need I’d identified and a perfect way for me to start learning Swift. Now, some of my classmates had the same idea, only for Android.
And one of my classmates presented an application that used regular expressions in order to find potentially harmful ingredients in the list of ingredients found on any product label. As soon as she started mentioning RegEx, I felt a slight shiver run down my spine.
But I’m not and the main reason for that is that I.don’t.like.regular.expressions. They’re a huge pain in my pooper and no matter how hard I try and no matter how many times I think I’ve finally got it…I still suck with them.
So, if there are any of you out there who actually get regular expressions and don’t just pester stackoverflow.com until you find someone else who does and hope that their example works for your needs as well…I salute you.
